On 19^th October 2023, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, former Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nation, New York, addressed on “Overview of Pakistan’s Relations with USA and then Changing Dynamics”, to the participants of the 34^th SMC.

During the lecture discussion, Ambassador (R) Malecha Lodhi set the context by explaining the global and regional landscape and elaborated on the present day multi-polarized situation after start of recent Gaza and Ukraine Wars. She also covered US-China turbulent relationship from Pakistan’s perspective. She mentioned that in history, good Pak-US relationship was always driven by some incident, rather than firm foundations. There were fears that drove these countries closer and the change in situation always turned the table. She explained Pak-US relationship in the context of Afghanistan and highlighted shortsightedness on both sides. In this transaction phase, she felt, these relationships had to be redefined in changing scenario like India-US strategic partnership and Pakistan would be required to choose its options more diligently.
