On 1st April 2024, Ambassador (R) Abdul Basit, former High Commissioner of Pakistan to India, delivered to the participants of 35th SMC a lecture on “Foreign Policy of Pakistan”.

During the lecture discussion, Ambassador (R) Abdul Basit detailed upon the internal and external determinants of foreign policy for a sovereign state across. He highlighted impediments that hinder the country from fully capitalising on its foreign policy potential for economic gain. He also highlighted the complex regional and global challenges posed by terrorism, the India- Pakistan dynamic, and recent conflicts like the Palestine situation. He stressed upon the necessity for Pakistan to adopt a balanced approach towards major players, acknowledging the enduring challenge it poses, thereby constraining policy options.
