On Thursday, May 23, 2024, Dr. Athar Maqsood, Professor of Economics addressed the participants of 35^th SMC on “Taxation Structure in Pakistan”. Talk on the “Taxation Structure in Pakistan” covered both federal and provincial aspects of taxation. Speaker examined the current taxation structure at the federal level, comparing direct and indirect taxes and their societal impacts. Reviewed the tax reforms introduced to bridge the tax gap and broaden the tax base, and discussed current international tax reforms and their implications for Pakistan.
