- On Friday, 7th February, 2025, Mr. Waqar Naeem Qureshi, Director General (IT Solution), Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), delivered a talk on “Use of IT for Effective Policy Implementation Service Delivery & Monitoring” to the participants of the 37th SMC.
- Mr. Waqar Naeem Qureshi emphasized the critical role of evidence-based e-governance in enhancing decision-making, policy implementation, service delivery, and monitoring. He highlighted how digital transformation has enabled governments to utilize real-time data, automation, and analytics for more efficient governance. The integration of IT in public sector operations ensures transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to citizens’ needs. By leveraging e-governance frameworks, policymakers can formulate informed strategies, track progress through digital monitoring tools, and optimize service delivery mechanisms. He also discussed case studies where technology-driven governance models have significantly improved public sector efficiency.
- The lecture further explored Big Data, Data Analytics, IoT (Internet of Things), and emerging trends in ICT that are shaping modern governance. Mr. Qureshi elaborated on how governments worldwide are using data-driven insights to predict societal needs, allocate resources effectively, and detect inefficiencies in service delivery. He also presented best practices from the public sector, illustrating how countries have successfully implemented digital governance solutions, such as automated grievance redressal systems, Al-powered decision support systems, and smart city infrastructure. The session concluded with an emphasis on adopting innovative ICT solutions to enhance policy execution, monitoring mechanisms, and overall governance performance.
