A Lecture Discussion on “Introduction of Project Management” was held on Friday, 2nd May 2025 at National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore. Aim of the lecture was to make the participants of 43rd MCMC go through the theoretical framework of project management, learn about Project Cycle and Project Management in public sector as well as scope and working of Planning Commission and Provincial Planning Departments.
The respected guest speaker started the interactive discussion with the relation of projects with national planning goals and covered Vision 2030, Uraan Pakistan 2024, and distinctions between long, medium, and short-term planning frameworks. He also introduced concepts from the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) including characteristics of projects and key components of management planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. He elaborated the difference between public and private sector projects, with a focus on impact, sustainability, and stakeholder perception of value. Participants actively contributed views on challenges and critical factors in public sector project management.
The lecture also covered the Project Management Cycle and Planning Commission forms (PC-1 to PC-V), emphasizing the need for feasibility studies and proper monitoring and evaluation. The lecture offered participants an opportunity to engage with the guest speaker and seek clarity on various aspects of project management in public sector of Pakistan. Overall, the session was engaging, and participants were enthusiastic to ask questions and share their experiences.
