On Wednesday, 31^st July 2025, Mr. Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) delivered a lecture on “Tourism Industry” to the 38^th Senior Management Course at the National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore.

Mr. Rana opened by mapping Pakistan’s tourism landscape, stressing the nation’s vast potential anchored in dramatic natural scenery, rich cultural traditions and world-class archaeological sites. He candidly outlined persistent obstacles, including inadequate infrastructure, cumbersome regulations, gaps in environmental stewardship, lingering security perceptions and a shortage of skilled personnel, that constrain the sector’s growth.

Turning to opportunity, Mr. Rana championed ecotourism, community-based ventures, adventure travel and heritage circuits as engines for sustainable development and local empowerment.
