A workshop on “Emotional Intelligence” was conducted on Wednesday, 03rd December, 2025 at National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Lahore with an aim to enlighten the participants of 45th MCMC about foundation, principles and self-assessment methods of Emotional Intelligence, the importance of understanding and managing emotions, mental health and wellbeing, providing emotional support and resources, creating a positive mental health culture and the role of mindset in shaping personal and professional lives.
The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafiq and interactive discussion was held. The guest speaker discussed how to regulate emotions and how to cope with changing emotional responses over time. She informed the participants which emotional and social competencies, skills, and facilitators influence how effectively individuals understand and express themselves, understand others, and cope with environmental demands. She stressed that Emotional Intelligence is directly linked to motivation, impulse control, and mood regulation, providing a competitive edge in leadership roles. She explained the Feelings Wheel for the self-assessment activity and how different feelings can affect moods and behaviours of human being and how they can be regulated through various techniques. Then she talked about adaptability, stress management and mental health and how emotional intelligence can help cope with different situations. Participants actively took part in discussion and benefited from the workshop.
