On Wednesday, 28th January 2026, Mr. Saqib Manan, Member Board of Revenue, Punjab conducted a workshop on “Analytical and Professional Writing” to the participants of the 39th SMC.

The speaker began by stating that effective analytical writing rests on clear thinking. Critical thinking helps an officer examine information, test arguments, and form a reasoned judgement to solve problems. He explained that analytical writing makes relationships visible. It compares and contrasts, weighs evidence, and evaluates claims so that the reader can see what is stronger and why.

He then outlined the essential elements of a professional document. A clear introduction. A concise thesis that sets the main argument. Relevant evidence and examples that support it. A brief review of alternative views and counterarguments. Proper citation, coherence across paragraphs, and a concise conclusion. The workshop also covered official notes, summaries, drafting, and policy briefs. Short hands-on exercises were used throughout so that participants could plan, structure, and refine their own writing for office use.
