On Wednesday, 11th March 2026, an interactive workshop on “Negotiation Skills and Conflict Management” was organised for the participants of the 39th Senior Management Course (SMC) at the National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Aamir Naseem Khan and focused on strengthening participants’ practical understanding of negotiation processes and conflict management within the public sector.
The first part of the workshop was focused on conflict management in the public sector. Dr. Khan discussed different approaches to conflict management and explained how these approaches may be applied in different administrative contexts. Through a scenario-based mock exercise, participants were introduced to practical conflict resolution models and frameworks used in public institutions to manage disputes constructively.
In the second part of the workshop, the discussion covered the stages of negotiation and commonly used tactics for managing complex bargaining situations. Dr. Khan emphasised the importance of preparation, communication, and strategic thinking in developing effective negotiators. Participants were also engaged in a mock negotiation exercise designed around a real situation, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts in a simulated environment.
