An insightful lecture titled “Current Security Situation: Historical Perspective and Future Challenges” was delivered by Lieutenant General ® Javed Hassan, Professor of Practice and Advisor to Rector, University of Management and Technology, Lahore and founding Rector of National School of Public Policy, Lahore on May 30th, 2025 at National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Lahore. The session provided a comprehensive overview of Pakistan’s security dynamics to the participants of 43^rd MCMC at NIPA, Lahore.

General Hassan traced the historical evolution of security threats from 1947 to the present, including wars with India, internal terrorism, and hybrid warfare. Key focus areas included internal threats such as sectarianism, provincial grievances, and cyber radicalization, as well as external pressures from regional geopolitics, especially India, Afghanistan, and the global strategic alignments.

He highlighted modern challenges such as cyber warfare, disinformation, and climate-induced insecurity. The speaker stressed the need for a National Security Strategy, investment in cyber capabilities, education reform, and balanced diplomacy. The session concluded with a call to shift from a reactive security posture to a welfare-driven governance model.
