On February 12, 2025, the National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore, hosted Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry for a lecture on “Foreign Policy of Pakistan with special Focus on Pak-Us Relations.”

He distinguished between foreign policy and diplomacy, emphasizing that foreign policy outlines national goals while diplomacy serves as the means to achieve them. Mr. Aizaz highlighted the key determinants of Pakistan’s foreign policy, such as security concerns, Kashmir, and relations with China, alongside global geopolitical dynamics. He examined the shift to a multipolar world and its implications of Pakistan, particularly in relation to India, Afghanistan, Iran, and China. The lecture delved into the evolving Pak-Us relationship, marked by both cooperation and tension, especially in the context of Us-China competition and regional issues like Gwadar Port and Iran. The future of Pak-Us ties, will center on structural engagement, trade, investment, and various sectors, with a diminished dependency on the US and greater influence from Pakistan’s internal politics and diaspora.
