A workshop on “Interdepartmental Coordination Mechanism: Challenges and Solutions” was conducted on Thursday,13th February 2025 at National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore. Aim of workshop was to equip participants of 42nd MCMC with the ability to address the critical role of coordination among various government departments to ensure effective governance and improve public service delivery.
The guest speaker conducted the session in three parts. First, he gave an overview of state governance and outlined the concept of public administration. Then he talked about New Public Administration and managerial functions. He emphasized the crucial role of coordination in public administration and discussed the Murree Incident of 2022 high lightening the consequences of poor interdepartmental coordination. He then discussed the constitutional provisions regarding administrative relationships between federal and provincial governments and laws and regulations providing the framework for interdepartmental coordination.
The lecture was followed by an interactive and engaging Q&A session. Afterwards, the participants were tasked to enlist factors of inefficiency leading to the Murree Incident during an activity session. In the past of the workshop, three syndicate groups were asked to, give a detailed presentation on the tasks given to accentuate inter-departmental liaison including structuring a coordination plan identifying the role of each involved agency.
