On October 14th, 2025, Dr. Attiya Inayatullah former Minister with a distinguished career in human rights and social development, delivered an impactful lecture to the participants of 38th SMC on “Issues and Welfare of Children in Pakistan”.
Dr. Attiya Inayatullah spoke at length regarding the welfare of children of Pakistan; and the constitutional, legal and institutional arrangements for their protection. She discussed the health concerns of mother and child, and the unchecked population growth leading to further complications such as lack of access to education and poverty for children. She also included in her talk impact of climate change on the welfare of children.
Dr. Attiya Inayatullah shed light on gender discrimination among children and rising child abuse cases, and explained that children who undergo such trauma suffer from long term effects that are physical, psychological, and emotional in nature.
Dr. Attiya Inayatullah concluded her session with a prayer to the Creator that He may open our eyes so we may see the needs of our children and open our ears so we may hear their cries. She hoped and prayed that the adults may realize their responsibility towards our future generations.
