On Friday, 27^th February, 2026, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, Hilal-E-Imitaz (Military), delivered a lecture so the participants of 39^th SMC on “Issues of Balochistan & Way Forward”. Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, currently Commander 12 Corps commissioned in 1^st Frontier Force Regiment in 1900. He is a graduate of Command and stuff College, Quetta, College Interarmees de Defence, France and National Defence University, Islamabad.

Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, candidly discussed the security situation of Balochistan and the ongoing new great game in this region, especially with regards to the rise of China. He also gave an overview of the historical and socio-political context of the current insurgency in Balochistan and went into detail as to how this is causing governance challenges and unrest in the region. He further clarified that only way forward is through dialogue and engagement, and improved governance.

He concluded the session by apprising the participants that there is a need for urgency to safeguard and protect the rights of the people of Balochistan and provide them with all due security to live their lives with dignity and honour.
