On Tuesday, 2 August 2023, Ambassador (R) Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, addressed the participants of 33rd SMC on “Overview of Pakistan’s Relations with the USA and the Changing Dynamics”, to the participants of the 33rd SMC,

During his intellectual discourse, the learned Guest Speaker provided the participants with a detailed account of the Pakistan-US relationship. He explained the ground factors in the past that led to giving US A. a preference over the Soviet Union in 1950s. In the long run, however, this relationship could not provide the desired in-depth partnership, and a roller coaster drive was witnessed. He explained present-day determinants and analyzed Afghan and Indian factors for Pakistan-US future relationships. He also touched upon the Chinese influence in the region and American concerns over it and the impacts of the Russian-Ukraine War in the current scenario.

While discussing the future prospectus to develop a good relationship with the US, he emphasized the role of multidimensional interaction, defense, Pakistani diaspora in the US, and structured engagement, instead of emotional and short-term relationships as observed in the past,
