On Monday, 13th April, 2026. Dr. Ali Sajid conducted a workshop on “Performance Management in Public Sector” for the participants of 46th Mid-Career Management Course at National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) Lahore.
Dr. Sajid began the workshop by explaining the concept of “performance” and “performance in the public sector.” He stated that performance in the public sector consists of protecting government resources, applying regulations, adhering to due process, and producing outstanding results. After that, he explained various types of performance indicators. He also clarified the difference between performance management and performance appraisal. Furthermore, he discussed the characteristics of personnel appraisal, the factors contributing to unsatisfactory performance, and how these issues can be improved. He then talked about Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which he described as the most critical aspects of organizational performance. He emphasized that KPIs should be specific, attainable, measurable, realistic, and achievable, and he explained the various types of KPIs.
A hands-on exercise was conducted by the GS. Four group were asked to formulate KPIs according to the given instruction. This provided and opportunity to the participants to learn how to make KPIs and clear ambiguity by interacting with the Guest speaker
