A Workshop on “Project Appraisal” was conducted on Monday, 25th August, 2025 at National Institute of Public Administration, Lahore. Aim of the workshop was to make the participants of 44th MCMC learn about the tools of project appraisal (NPV, IRR, BCR) in order to do economic, financial and unit cost analysis for assessing a project’s feasibility and success and using case study method and practical/hands-on exercises to evaluate projects.
The respected guest speaker briefly discussed the steps for evaluating government projects using PC forms (PC-I to PC-V) and stressed on the importance of project success being measured not just through outputs, but also outcomes and long-term impact. He elaborated the roles of Project Manager, Project Coordinator, and Project Expeditor. He then explained different types of project appraisals including Economic, Market, Technical, Financial, and Managerial along with their relevance and practical application.
The hands-on segment of the workshop included exercises on financial tools like NPV, IRR, and BCR. The structured format, clarity of content, and interactive approach made the session both informative and impactful for the participants.
