On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Mr. Tariq Bajwa, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Finance Division addressed the participants of 34^th SMC on “Public Finance Management”.

The guest speaker spoke about the objectives of public finance management and also discussed its various elements policy formulation, budget formulation and approval expenditure, accounting and external audit and evaluation.

He discussed monetary, fiscal, trade and investment policies and the policy instruments. He also highlighted the need for paying taxes and quoted the example of first military expedition led by the independent USA against those who refused to pay taxes. He emphasized that we are living beyond our means, which is not sustainable. Bureaucracy, judiciary and political leadership none realize the need for prudence.
